Members of the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee are seeking advice on the "best club" to go to in London as part of their ongoing inquiry in to the Class A drug.
Keith Vaz, the Labour MP and committee chairman, will lead a group of 13 other MPs but insisted it was "not our Christmas party".
But one police source warned the MPs could be due a surprise as it is likely many have not stepped foot in a club for three decades.
Mr Vaz said he wanted the groups of MPs to see 'everything' – warts and all.
He added: "We are obviously looking to see 'everything’ in action."
But the police source said: "They might be in for a bit of a shock.
"Some of these clubs are real rave ups with people doing all sorts.
"I imagine some of these MPs haven't been to a club since the 70s – and it's a long way from the Bee Gees and Abba these days."
Committee member Bob Russell, the Liberal Democrat MP, lists 60s music and "tunes you can sing along to" on his Facebook page while Tom Brake, another Lib Dem MP, presented a classical music coffee morning at his local library in 2008
